Use dictation

Capture speech with a local recognition engine and manage transcript history in the desktop app.

Use dictation

Open Transcripts for live dictation and its local history. This workspace is for microphone capture; use the Dub workflow when you need to transcribe and edit an existing media file.

Start a capture

  1. Choose an installed speech-recognition engine from the quick switch.
  2. Select Start dictation and allow microphone access if the operating system asks.
  3. Speak clearly, then finish the capture from the recording control.
  4. Wait for the new transcript to appear in the history list.

If capture cannot start, check the operating-system microphone permission, confirm an ASR model is installed, and close another app that may hold exclusive access to the device.

Work with history

Search the transcript list, open a result, and use its copy or delete action. Use Export all when you want an external backup. VoiceStudio keeps a bounded local history, so export important material instead of treating the list as permanent storage.

Set a global shortcut

In Settings, choose a dictation shortcut with at least one modifier key. Avoid combinations already reserved by the operating system. The shortcut can focus VoiceStudio and start capture while the app is running.

Your microphone audio and transcript are sensitive. Review the storage paths in Models and settings before using dictation on a shared computer.
